1992 ވަނަ އަހަރު ޑރ. ޒާހިރުއަށް ލިބިވަޑައިގެންނެވި ސްކޮލަރޝިޕްއެއްގެ ދަށުން، އެމަނިކުފާނުގެ ފުރަތަމަ ޑިގްރީ ޙާސިލްކުރެއްވީ “އުޞޫލުއްދީން” އިން ސަޢޫދީ ޢަރަބިޔާގެ މަދީނާ ޔުނިވަރސިޓީއިންނެވެ. 2008 ވަނަ އަހަރު “އިސްލާމިކް ރިވީލްޑް ނޮލެޖް އެންޑް ހެރިޓޭޖް” (ފިޤުހު އަދި އުޞޫލުލް ފިޤުހު) އިން މާސްޓަރސް ޑިގްރީ ޙާޞިލްކުރައްވައި، އަދި 2016 ވަނަ އަހަރު ޕޮލިޓިކަލް ސައިންސުން ޑޮކްޓަރ އޮފް ފިލޯސަފީ ޙާޞިލް ކުރައްވާފައިވަނީ އިންޓަރނޭޝަނަލް އިސްލާމިކް ޔުނިވަރސިޓީ މެލޭޝިއާ އިންނެވެ.
On 17th November 2018, Dr. Ahmed Zahir Ali was sworn in as the Minister of Islamic Affairs.
Dr. Ahmed Zahir Ali was born on 27th September 1967. He started his service to the government in 1992 as a secondary teacher in Majeedhiyya School. In his teaching career he has taught in the leading schools of the country. At present he is a part-time lecturer at the Islamic University of Maldives (IUM) and at the Maldives National University (MNU).
He was awarded the overseas Merit Scholarship to Islamic University of Madinah al-Munawwarah in Saudi Arabia and graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Usul-al-Din. Dr. Zahir subsequently obtained his Master’s Degree in Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Heritage (Figh and Usul Al- Figh) from International Islamic University, Malaysia. Dr. Zahir was awarded with his Doctor of philosophy in Political Science from International Islamic University, Malaysia in the year 2016. He has completed his thesis in “The Role of Social Capital in enhancing Local Government performance in the Maldives.”
In 1997, he joined the administrative service and worked at Supreme council for Islamic Affairs, Republic of Maldives as an Assistant Director. He also served as the Deputy Director in the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Republic of Maldives from 2007 to 2009. He was serving as the Director and the Head of Islamic Affairs Division in the Ministry of Islamic Affairs before appointing to be the Minister.
He serves as the Editor for “Al Minbar” magazine (issued in every three months) and weekly local newsletter “Hidayatu Ge Ali.” Additionally, he serves as a columnist for local magazines and newspapers due to the love he has for writing and spreading religious awareness. He also contributes immensely to the community by delivering religious speeches in Jails, Drug Rehabilitation Centers, Army Centers and the general public. He actively participates in conducting workshops and presents TV & radio programmes to develop religious awareness and good conduct among school teachers and school children.
