The Islamic Center, Thinadhoo has been authorized to operate the campus of Islamic University of Maldives (IUM).
In a significant development, the Islamic University of Maldives (IUM) has officially handed over its campus in southern G.dh. Thinadhoo to the Islamic Center in Thinadhoo. The ceremonial signing of the agreement, facilitated by the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed on behalf of the Ministry, took place today at the Islamic University of Maldives, with the Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Ali Zahir, signing on behalf of the Islamic University.
During the ceremony, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Ali Zahir expressed gratitude for the opportunity, stating that this agreement marks a substantial milestone in advancing educational efforts. He conveyed thanks to the Minister of Islamic Affairs for enabling this significant collaboration. Dr. Ali Zahir highlighted the positive impact of the agreement, emphasizing that it will address existing challenges and provide essential facilities, including classrooms and office spaces. Furthermore, he revealed plans to establish similar centres in various regions.
Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, expressed pleasure at the agreement, emphasizing its role in opening avenues for the Islamic University of Maldives to initiate courses in the southern provinces of Maldives. He underscored the importance of having Islamic University centres in every region, aligning with the President’s vision and manifesto. The Minister pledged ongoing collaboration with associations, colleges, and universities, expressing commitment to supporting scholarships, staff training, research, and book publishing.
Moreover, the Minister envisioned IUM becoming a hub for international students, aligning with the President’s objectives. He encouraged swift action to commence courses for the upcoming semester based on the agreement reached. The ceremony was attended by officials from the Ministry of Islamic Affairs and the Islamic University.
