The Maldives Zakat House has extended MVR 500,000 worth of food aid to the people of Gaza, utilizing contributions received through the national Zakat Fund. This humanitarian initiative reflects the Maldivian people’s continued support for those affected by conflict and hardship in the region.
The aid was officially handed over to the ISRA Association, a trusted humanitarian organization, which oversaw the coordination and delivery of the supplies in partnership with aid organizations operating within Gaza. Importantly, all expenses related to the transportation and distribution of the aid inside Gaza were fully covered by the ISRA Association, ensuring that the entire Zakat allocation was directed solely toward purchasing food for those in need.
Today, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs released a video documenting the distribution process, showing food parcels being delivered to families residing in heavily damaged and devastated homes across Gaza. The footage offers a glimpse into the challenging conditions on the ground and underscores the significance of this aid in reaching vulnerable communities.
This initiative is part of a broader tradition of humanitarian support from the Maldives. The Zakat Fund has previously been used to provide substantial aid to Gaza, reaffirming the Maldives' longstanding commitment to international solidarity and relief efforts.
The Ministry thanked both the ISRA Association and the local aid organizations in Gaza for their role in facilitating the delivery of aid, and expressed gratitude to all Maldivians whose Zakat contributions have made this assistance possible.
