Ministry will oversee 41 projects this year, 35 existing and 6 new projects

The Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, has revealed that the Ministry will oversee 41 projects this year, with a focus on enhancing the country’s Islamic infrastructure and community services.

During his speech at the "Ahaa Forum" last night, the Minister highlighted that out of these 41 projects, 35 are ongoing, and 6 are new initiatives scheduled to begin this year. He further noted that between November 2023 and the present, the government has allocated a total of 96 million rufiyaa for the construction of mosques and Islamic centers. In addition, more than 8 million rufiyaa was spent last year on the repair and maintenance of existing mosques.

Among the key projects, Dr. Shaheem emphasized the ongoing carpet laying work at the R. Ungoofaaru Islamic Center, which is expected to be completed before Ramadan. The Minister also mentioned that the Ministry is working on several initiatives aimed at optimizing the use of Islamic centers across the country.

These efforts reflect the government’s commitment to strengthening the nation’s religious infrastructure and ensuring that Islamic centers continue to serve the spiritual and social needs of the community.
