His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Salah Al-Budair, the Imam of Masjid Al-Nabawi, has advised Imams and Khateebs in the Maldives to be upright role models who lead their communities with knowledge, wisdom, and integrity.
During a special meeting held today as part of his official visit to the Maldives, Sheikh Dr. Al-Budair addressed a gathering of Imams and Khateebs, offering a series of profound insights and guidance on their responsibilities as religious leaders.
In his speech, Sheikh Dr. Al-Budair emphasized the importance of Imams being individuals who are accepted by society for their character and conduct, and who actively promote goodness and positive values. He highlighted the nobility of the role of an Imam and cautioned against engaging in discourse that could lead to social division or unrest.
He also stressed the necessity of continuous learning, stating that Imams must have a deep understanding of Islamic rulings, especially those related to prayer, and be diligent in following the Sunnah. He encouraged a balanced and moderate approach in all aspects of worship.
Addressing the use of digital platforms, Sheikh Dr. Al-Budair advised scholars and Imams to maintain professionalism and refrain from sharing content or making remarks that do not align with their position as religious figures.
Additionally, he underscored the importance of adhering to the guidance of relevant authorities and fulfilling the responsibilities of being an Imam or Khateeb with the utmost dedication and sincerity.
As part of his ongoing visit, Sheikh Dr. Al-Budair also met with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, senior officials and staff of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, and members of the Supreme Council for Islamic Fatwa.
His visit, organized under the directive of President Muizzu and facilitated by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, aims to strengthen Islamic values and promote religious leadership in the Maldives through the engagement of renowned scholars.
