Minister Shaheem Urges Public to Fulfill Trust of Wealth and Support the Needy

The Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, has called on the public to use their wealth responsibly, emphasizing that wealth is a significant trust from Allah.

In his address at the inaugural forum of the "Ihyaa Forum" series, which aims to revive the spirit of Ramadan nights, Dr. Shaheem discussed the theme, "Earning and Using Wealth in a Good Way." His speech was grounded in teachings from the Holy Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet, offering valuable insights on how wealth should be earned and used in accordance with Islamic principles.

The Minister stressed that Islam places great importance on fulfilling the trust of wealth by ensuring it reaches the rightful owners, particularly the poor, and supporting those in need in various ways. He highlighted that using wealth for the betterment of others is an act of kindness that pleases Allah.

Dr. Shaheem also spoke about the significance of showing compassion towards foreigners who have come to the Maldives from different countries, describing it as a noble characteristic loved by Allah.

A key portion of the Minister’s speech focused on the importance of Zakat, specifically Fitrah Zakat and Wealth Zakat. He provided a comprehensive overview of the rules and regulations surrounding Zakat, explaining its vital role in purifying wealth and earning spiritual rewards.

The forum was a timely reminder of the Islamic values of charity, social responsibility, and the proper management of resources, especially during the blessed month of Ramadan.
In his speech, the Minister also addressed the issue of bribery, emphasizing that it is strictly forbidden in Islam. He warned that all parties involved in bribery—whether the giver, the receiver, or the intermediary—are cursed by Allah. Furthermore, the Minister reminded the audience that consuming unlawful wealth can lead to Allah not answering the prayers of those who engage in such practices.

To further spread the message of Islam and promote social responsibility during Ramadan, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs has organized a series of "Ihyaa" forums. A total of 8 forums will be held in Male', while 7 additional forums will take place across various islands in the atolls. Additionally, 6 special Ihyaa forums have been arranged for school students, ensuring the younger generation is also engaged in this important discussion during the blessed month.
