His Excellency G. Balasubramanian, High Commissioner of India to the Republic of Maldives, paid a courtesy call on His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, Minister of Islamic Affairs, at the Ministry of Islamic Affairs. The meeting was also attended by H.E. Shri Kumar Gaurav, Deputy High Commissioner of India.
During the discussions, Minister of Islamic Affairs congratulated the newly appointed High Commissioner and expressed appreciation for his visit. The Minister provided a brief overview of the Ministry’s work and responsibilities while acknowledging the strong and enduring relations between India and the Maldives. He further conveyed gratitude to the Government and the people of India for their continued support and cooperation.
The High Commissioner thanked the Minister for the warm welcome and the opportunity to engage in discussions on areas of mutual interest. Following the meeting, the High Commissioner visited the Islamic Centre Mosque area, where he was given an overview of its significance as a religious and cultural landmark in the Maldives.
