The Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, has firmly stated that the Zakat Authority is the most trustworthy institution in the Maldives, despite efforts to undermine its credibility.
During his participation in the "Ask Forum," a platform for public engagement with ministers, Dr. Shaheem assured the public of the integrity of the Zakat House, emphasizing that, despite various attempts to discredit it, the institution remains reliable and transparent.
“To the wealthy people of the Maldives, I would say this is your Zakat House. While there may be attempts to tarnish its reputation, I have no doubt that the Zakat Authority is one of the most trustworthy institutions in the country,” the Minister declared.
Dr. Shaheem also highlighted the significant progress made by the Zakat House in raising awareness about the importance of Zakat. He revealed that the past year saw the highest amount of wealth Zakat ever collected in the history of the Maldives, with over 100 million rufiyaa raised.
The Minister’s remarks reflect the government’s ongoing commitment to promoting the values of Zakat and ensuring the proper management of the funds to benefit those in need.
