Ministry of Islamic Affairs Implements Major Restructuring to Enhance Operational Efficiency

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has introduced significant changes to its administrative structure, aimed at improving operational efficiency and better serving the public. These reforms, approved by the Civil Service Commission, come under the leadership of Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, the Minister of Islamic Affairs.

The restructuring encompasses several key departments and sections. Notably, the Corporate Affairs Department has established a new specialized unit dedicated to Training and Performance Management under its Human Resources Section. Additionally, a Minister’s Secretariat Section has been created, overseeing the Secretariat Unit, Foreign Relations Unit, Media Unit, and Policy and Strategic Planning Unit. These units will function under the direct supervision of the Minister and the Permanent Secretary.

In a significant move, the Mosque Affairs Division within the Islamic Affairs Department has been renamed to the Waqf and Islamic Development Division. This division has been further divided, with the Waqf and Infrastructure Development Section split into two independent units: the Waqf Section and the Infrastructure Development Section.

To further streamline operations, a series of new units have been established. The Awqaf Section now includes both the newly created Awqaf Administration Unit and the Fund Management Unit. Additionally, the Mosque Management Section has been expanded with the creation of regional units: the Greater Male' Mosques Unit, Northern Mosques Unit, and Southern Mosques Unit.

The Islamic Da’wah Section has also undergone changes, now renamed the Da’wah and Guidance Section. This restructuring includes the dissolution of its previous two units, which have been replaced by three new units: the Greater Male' Region Awareness Unit, the Northern Region Awareness Unit, and the Southern Region Awareness Unit.

In terms of media and research, the Media and Publication Section has been renamed to the Research and Publication Section, with a new Research and Development Unit added. The Islamic Library Unit, which was previously part of the Media and Publication Section, is now a standalone section.

The restructuring also includes the transformation of the Hajj and Umrah Unit into an independent section. These changes are designed to enhance the ministry’s ability to deliver services across the country more effectively and efficiently.

With these updates, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs is poised to improve its operations, expand services, and provide a more streamlined experience for those seeking assistance. These developments mark a new chapter in the ministry’s efforts to better serve the community and contribute to the nation’s growth and progress.
