H.E. Dr. Mariyam Shabeena, Maldives High Commissioner to Malaysia, paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, at the Ministry of Islamic Affairs. The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration between the Maldives and Malaysia in Islamic affairs and religious education.
During the discussions, both parties explored opportunities to enhance Quranic education for Maldivian families residing in Malaysia and agreed on making necessary arrangements to facilitate this initiative. The meeting also covered plans for organizing a Quran competition for Maldivians living in Malaysia, further promoting Islamic learning and engagement within the community. Additionally, the provision of financial assistance from the Zakat Fund for students facing financial difficulties during their academic tenure was discussed as part of MoIA’s ongoing commitment to supporting Maldivians in need.
The Minister reaffirmed the Ministry’s dedication to fostering international cooperation in religious and educational matters and expressed appreciation for the High Commission’s efforts in advancing initiatives that benefit the Maldivian community in Malaysia.
